COVID-19 Response

(UPDATE- May 12, 2020)

Church family,

We will be opening on a limited basis on Sunday, May 17th. Our service will remain at the 10:00am time slot for the time being. While we will reopen our worship service, we will not resume Sunday School, evening activities, or Wednesday activities, immediately.

Per the CDC recommendations, we will continue to observe social distancing, and we will have masks available for those who would like to use them. Also, per those recommendations, we ask those who are in the high-risk population to continue to remain home. If you have chronic lung issues or are immunocompromised, STAY HOME. If you are sick, have fever, are around someone who is sick, have been quarantined or live with someone who is quarantined due to COVID-19, or are uncomfortable with being around people, STAY HOME. We will continue to stream our service on our Facebook page with the camera near the stage.

If you choose to attend the service, these protocols will be in place:

  1. The two center doors entering the main foyer will be unlocked and propped open at 9:40am. All other doors will remain locked, so that we can control the flow of traffic.
  2. Shannon Baker will greet you, ask you a few questions, and offer you a mask.
  3. As you enter the auditorium, every other pew will be closed, and available pews will be divided into two sections with a taped-off space in the center. Overflow seating will be available in our chapel, if needed.
  4. We will seat by household/family (No nursery/extended session)
  5. We will not engage in handshaking or hugs. We know that this is an incredibly difficult expectation for a loving congregation that has not seen each other for nearly two months, but we want to continue to exercise caution for the health and safety of each other. Greet each other with a wave and hearty, “Good to see you!!”
  6. We will not “pass the plate” during the offering. Offering plates will be set at the back of the auditorium. Please, place your offering in one as you come in or as you leave. Along that note, thank you for the faithfulness you all have continued to display in giving.
  7. At the conclusion of the service, we will dismiss by sections.
  8. The building will be sanitized before and after each service.

We know that this is not ideal, but these are not ideal times. And, we trust that this will only be for a season. When the restrictions are lifted, we will have a celebration service. Please, remember that if you do not feel comfortable being present, stay home and watch the live stream. Do not feel pressured to come since the doors are open. Your health is important to us!

(UPDATE- March 26, 2020)

Hello Church Family,

I'm sitting in my quiet office considering the current state of affairs.  As of 11:59pm last night, our Governor's Executive Order in in effect. This means that non-essential businesses are closed and the recommendation to not meet in groups of 10 or more is now a legal ban. After seeking clarification from the Governor's office, we want you to know that our church staff is allowed to continue day to day operations, but the inside of our church building is currently limited to church staff ONLY, per that order. If you need something, call us. We are still here in the office, preparing for our online services, developing ways to keep us all connected, ready to serve you and our community. We look forward, as you do, to the day that this comes to an end and we can all come together, again. What a day of celebration that will be!!

We are working on ways to help keep us connected and active. Parents of children and preschoolers, we have included a link in our newletter to a free resource that Lifeway has made temporarily available so that you can do "Sunday School" with your kids at home. Check it out! We are looking at a platform called Zoom to help some of our other groups to be able to connect, using video conferencing.  If you have not followed us on Facebook, please, do so. It is the quickest way to be informed as we push information out and it is where to watch our Worship Services.

In the meantime, continue to be the Church where you are! Take care of those around you and share the love of Christ! Remain connected to our Worship Services on Sunday's at 10:00am.  Remember that though times may seem difficult, you can trust in the LORD who is with you and remember the words in Hannah's prayer, "There is none holy like the LORD: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God."

Take joy in the LORD! The King is on the throne!

I love you, church family!

VABC Family,

The presence of this coronavirus has forced nearly all organizations to examine their practices and make appropriate adjustments for the health and well-being of their staff and patrons. Our church leadership is continuing to monitor the present situation and we want to be proactive as we continue to serve the needs of the church and the community. For this reason, we are currently complying with the President’s 15 Day Guidelines. We will be streaming our Sunday services for March 22 & 29 on our Facebook page at 10:00am with our praise team and pastor, but we will not be gathering in the building as a congregation, having evening activities, nor will we have activities on Wednesday night, during this period. Our Women’s Retreat has been canceled, and we are encouraging our membership to be aware of the 15 Day Guidelines: and we encourage you to become aware of the CDC’s recommendations on protecting yourself:

What can you do? Continue to be the church! We are the church, even if we are not in the building. Call one another and take care of your neighbors who might be at high risk, such as the elderly or sick. If you are unable to leave your home, contact us at the office (918-446-5343) or by email ( Our deacons and a host of church members have volunteered to help you take care of needs.

Engage in the Live Streams at 10:00am the next two Sundays and invite others to do the same; make it a priority. Our staff is working diligently to continue to provide our congregation with a corporate worship time, even though we won’t be meeting together in the building. Also, if you are a regular giver at View Acres, please continue to do so, as you are able. Your continued faithfulness and generosity is VITAL and enables us to continue to engage in our on-going Gospel-centered ministries and mission. You can do so by mail, through your bank’s online bill pay, or you can give online using the three methods that we provide: 1. Through our website- (click the “Give” button on the main page). 2. Through our app- You can download the app from your Apple or Android store. 3. Through text message- Just text VIEWACRES to 77977 and follow the instructions.

If you have not used online giving, this is a great time to give it a try. It is easy and secure.

We will continue to monitor events as they unfold and how they might affect upcoming opportunities, such as summer activities, camps and other trips. Also, once the 15 Day period is concluded, we will evaluate our regularly scheduled services and programs and make decisions as conditions warrant. If we make changes or cancelations we will inform you through our website, email, our Facebook page, and through app push notifications.

Finally, PRAY! Be reminded of the traits that Paul encouraged in Timothy while he faced outside opposition in 2 Timothy 1:7, “for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” This should characterize us, no matter the circumstance.

Be the church, VABC!
